Coaches
County Durham Sport recognise the huge role sports coaching plays at every level of participation, therefore we are committed to supporting all those wishing to start a pathway in coaching or those who already coach. Whether coaching voluntarily at a local club or forging a career as a coach, the impact coaches have upon both the levels of participation and the ultimate performance potential of an athlete is sometimes underestimated. County Durham Sport is committed to providing the necessary support and development opportunities to enable coaches to have this impact.
The aim of the coaching section is to provide information and guidance to support coaches in whatever capacity they coach and will include the following.
• Funding and support for coaches
• County Durham Coaching Network
County Durham Sport is tasked with supporting the delivery of the strategic actions of the UK Coaching Framework.
This will include.
• Establish and support a local coaching network to identify local coaching needs using the UK Coaching Framework as a reference.
• Develop the UK Coaching Framework at a local level and support the work of the 5 strategic areas
• Work closely with National Governing Bodies to support the delivery of their local plans using the 7 components of the coaching system.
• Support local coaches and partners with identifying, deploying and support their coaching workforce.
• Develop a 3 year Coaching Strategy for County Durham.
• Support partners to identify coaching development requirements and shape local opportunities to meet the demand.
