UK physical activity guidelines factsheets
The Department of Health have also produced a number of factsheets outlining the guidelines for each group.

Start active, stay active: a report on physical activity from the four home countries' Chief Medical Officers
The four UK Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) have published new physical activity guidelines covering early years (under-fives), children and young people (5-18), adults (19-64) and older adults (65+). 'Start Active, Stay Active' updates the existing guidelines for children, young people and adults, and includes for the first time in the UK, new guidelines for early years and older people. The flexibility of the guidelines creates new ways to achieve the health benefits of an active lifestyle, while retaining a strong link to previous recommendations. For all age groups, they highlight the risks of excessive sedentary behaviour, which exist independently of any overall volume of physical.

County Durham CVD Profile
This Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Health Profile brings together a wide range of data on cardiovascular disease in each PCT area in the country and in associated Cardiac & Stroke Networks. Its aim is to provide information to health care professionals, commissioners and other interested parties about CVD issues in their local community, as an aid to planning and development.

The key aim of 'Swimming - taking the plunge for a fi tter lifestyle', is to get more people swimming more often - by transforming the way swimming is delivered. Health Survey for England 2009: Health and lifestyles
The Health Survey for England is a series of annual surveys designed to measure health and health-related behaviours in adults and children living in private households in England. The 2009 Health Survey for England focused on long term health conditions and self-assessed general health. It looked at the effectiveness and use of personal care plans, which were introduced in 2006 as part of the strategy to support and empower those with long term conditions. The survey had a secondary focus on kidney disease, renal function and diabetes.

Programme report on the BIG Lottery Funded MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition... Do It!) Programme, tackling childhood obesity by getting children and their families fitter, healthier and happier.

2009

Health Survey for England 2008: Physical activity and fitness
The Health Survey for England is a series of annual surveys designed to measure health and health-related behaviours in adults and children living in private households in England. The 2008 Health Survey for England focused on physical activity and fitness. Adults and children were asked to recall their physical activity over recent weeks, and objective measures of physical activity and fitness were also obtained.

National Child Measurement Programme 2008/09 School Year Report
This report summarises the key findings from the Government's National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) 2008/09. The report provides high-level analysis of the prevelance of underweight, healthy weight, overweight and obese children in reception and Year 6 measured in the school year 2008/09.
